A fire drill was successfully carried out at Nazilli State Hospital.

A comprehensive fire drill was carried out at Nazilli State Hospital in order to ensure that the staff is prepared in the event of a possible fire and to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.

A fire, which was assumed to have started from an electrical fault in the hospital's 2nd floor administrative section as required by the drill scenario, quickly grew and spread to the surrounding areas. With the activation of smoke sensors, the hospital alarm systems were activated and the incident was immediately reported to the fire extinguishing team.

The crisis management team formed within the framework of the Hospital Disaster and Emergency Plan (HAP) quickly gathered and arrived at the scene. The fire extinguishing, patient evacuation and security teams worked in coordination and the patients in the ward were evacuated to safe areas with wheelchairs and stretchers. The evacuation of patients with reduced mobility was specially simulated in the drill.

The fire department, 112 Emergency Service, UMKE and AFAD teams also participated as observers in the drill, and it was observed that the hospital staff displayed a successful performance in fire response, communication and coordination.

In the evaluation meeting held after the drill, it was stated that deficiencies and areas that needed improvement would be noted and compiled into a report. Our hospital’s Chief Physician, Specialist Dr. Necati Akkaya said, “With such drills, we aim for our staff to act calmly in times of disaster and to safely evacuate our patients. Thanks to these drills, which are held regularly every year, we will develop stronger reflexes in times of crisis.” Nazilli State Hospital will continue such practical drills regularly in line with the goal of being prepared for possible disasters and emergencies.
