A First at Nazilli State Hospital: The Patient Who Underwent Breast Wire Marking Procedure with Ultrasonography Was Successfully Performed
After the preoperative ultrasonography and wire marking procedure was performed by Radiology Specialist Dr. Mustafa Balcı on our patient who applied to our Nazilli State Hospital, Op. Dr. Bilsay Akalın performed the surgical intervention and the operation was completed successfully.
The wire marking procedure is applied especially to lesions that may be malignant under 1 to 1.5 cm or to cases that are difficult to follow, and is performed by making a small incision using local anesthesia and placing a wire inside the lesion. In this way, general surgeons can follow this wire during the surgery and reach the lesion directly and perform a successful surgical intervention. This method is a very safe and painless procedure similar to breast biopsy procedures. Thanks to the coordination provided between the General Surgery and Radiology departments, the surgery process can be completed more easily and effectively and patients can be discharged in a short time.
